How to Qualify for the CPA Exam

A chartered account with the appropriate certification only needs just a little bit of the entrepreneurial spirit to make a good deal of money. Many accountants make at least $300 an hour.  However you do need a fair amount of education and certification to become a chartered accountant.  This is not an easy road to having a lucrative career but it is well worth it.

These are difficult programs to get into and the rules for qualifying for the exam can really differ from state to state at the jurisdiction levels in Washington D.C. Puerto Rico, Guan, U.S. Virgin Islands and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.  Depending on where you live you need to a fair amount of research to specifically find out what it is you need to do,

However as varying as the requirements to qualify can be from state to sate there are some commonalities you are likely to encounter that apply to every state and jurisdiction. For instance you will be required to complete a total of 150 semester credits form a university or college that is recognized by that jurisdiction.  Most CPA exams also require you to take specific courses in accounting and business as part of your business degree.  The B.A. also usually has to be the recommended 150 topic credits required by your state and not just courses of your own choosing.

Sometimes you might meet the CPA exam educational requirements if you obtain a bachelor’s degree in an accounting from a college with a recognized outstanding undergraduate program. You might also be accepted if you get a bachelor’s degree from a college or university with an outstanding accounting program and then get a follow-up degree from another university in Taxation.  Another short-cut to qualifying for the exam in some states might be a demonstration of being to graduate from college in four years with a full 150 credits.

Keep in mind that when it comes to becoming a chartered accountant that the testing is going to continue until your CPA license is issued to you.  Depending on the state you may be required to take even more courses and exams in ethics before you are eligible to apply for your PA license.

This is a great career to acquire if you can weather the tough college courses and exams that come with it. These courses are so demining that less than fifty percent of students actually graduate.  Then, on top of that, less than half of those graduates will pass the CPA exam.
